All you need to do is arrange the transportation to Paris, Kentucky, and bring a picnic lunch. A field trip to the Walking Trail & Arboretum takes just under three hours, including time for a picnic.
What happens at a field trip to the Walking Trail?
Kentucky Christian History field trips start with a guided walk around the trail. They can also do a nature scavenger hunt along the way. At each of seven stations, your students will be introduced using text and historic images and photographs to facts about the Christian religion. Everything is presented in objective, secular, non-devotional language in a format that respects the Kentucky State Social Studies Inquiry Process. They will each discover the story of a famous Kentucky Christian using the Eye-Spy game. Then, the students will do a series of five-minute activities – games, STEAM challenges, crafts- derived from the life and times of one of the 30 famous Kentucky Christians featured on the Eye-Spy game. The trail is located within the Greg & Toni Spivey & Family Arboretum. A QR code at each plant takes you to an audio prompt written for children to help them engage with the plant. Bring a sack lunch to eat in our picnic area and bring some money for souvenirs.
