Saturday August 24, 2024 – Homeschool Kentucky Christian History Day

Bring the whole homeschooling family for a great day with other homeschoolers from all over Kentucky. We’ll start at 10AM by playing an eye-spy game to learn about a famous Kentucky Christian from the past. After a meet and greet in the picnic area, we’ll do an Arboretum scavenger hunt. Burgers and hotdogs with chips and drinks will be available for sale or you are welcome to bring your own picnic. After lunch we’ll divide up. The kids will play an assortment of games inspired by famous Kentucky Christians. The adults will get tips for maximizing their field trips for their homeschool. The tips will be given by Dr. Lesley Barker, the director of the Kentucky Faith & Public History Education Project. She is a seasoned educator with experience in homeschooling her own seven children along with children from six other families from 1984-2001. She has also taught in Christian schools and public schools. She holds a Master’s degree in teaching and a doctorate in museum studies. She also created programs for homeschoolers at the Bolduc House Museum (now the Centre for French Colonial America) in Ste. Genevieve, Missouri. These were a monthly homeschool activity, regular homeschool history days, and a French Colonial American History class for 7th-12th graders. She brings this heart and experience here to Kentucky. Please use this online form to register for this event: https://forms.gle/hF5y4gnB1J3iHe5d6. Following this event, at 4PM, there will be a Fun Dog Contest. If you want to bring and enter your dog in one of the contests, please let us know on the registration form.
